IR35 checker
An IR35 checker for contractors, written for construction
IR35 depends on the facts of each engagement, not your job title. The 3lanse IR35 checker walks you through the areas HMRC and the courts look at, with questions written for construction roles.
You see where the risks and strengths are, what you could change, and you keep a dated record for each client.

Guidance, a record and next steps
Each check ends with an indication (outside, borderline or inside), the answers that pushed it each way, and practical suggestions where something could be changed.
The record is saved against the client with the date, so you can show how you considered your status if you are asked later.
The checker is guidance to help you understand your position. It is not an HMRC determination, a status determination statement or professional advice. Where the off-payroll rules apply, the client is usually responsible for deciding status. HMRC's own Check Employment Status for Tax (CEST) tool is available on GOV.UK.
